Web 2.0 Software applications

According to Forrester research, Enterprise spending on web 2.0 Software Applications as Service is expected to grow strongly over the next five years independent of current recession period with better enterprise adoption of social networking, mashups and RSS. The market for web 2.0 software application as service will be defined by commoditization and eroding prices.

Potential Web 2.0 Software applications as service Challenges

Web 2.0 adoptions may take longer when it is compared to normal web application development or deployment. Despite the major impacts the technology will have on how businesses market their products and optimize their workforces, web 2.0 software applications as service will eventually be weaved into the fabric of the enterprise and bring lot of potential for future growth in web 2.0 era. As the technology is turning around web 2.0 will be compared with web 3.0 in the following year, just right now we are comparing web 2.0 with normal web application.

The ROI may not be very clear for many organizations, as they keep wondering whether it is possible to make money with web 2.0? This, in turn, will keep software firms guessing whether they can make money selling enterprise web 2.0 software applications as service or not.
