Newspapers are failing, magazines are going under, advertising is getting more and more expensive by the day, online pop-ups are blocked by the second, email marketing is spammed and tossed out in a heartbeat, and don’t even think about the good old days when cold calling and junk mail were the ways to go. Free online social networks are the new advertising platform, and blogging and conversation has replaced snail mail and cold calling.
Social marketing does take a little longer than many other strategies, mainly because it requires building a friend base. However, we already know that a great amount of trust is given to online friends, and the majority of buyers trust what they hear from friends rather then what they find in advertisements.
Getting interactive with your customers through social networking is good on platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, myspace, mixx, technorati, stumbleupon, fark, digg, delicious, reddit, spurl, propeller, diigo, buzz and many more allows them to trust you and your product.
